About Me

I'm one of those annoying people who knew what I wanted to do at a young age, pursued it and I still love it. Pretty lucky since it took 8 years to qualify! I vividly remember in the late 80's discovering Psychology;  it wasn't  so well known as a subject at the time and I remember being amazed that I could do a degree in what I loved most - people and the science of the mind.

The majority of my career has involved working with children, teenagers and adults, at a number of NHS services including Great Ormond Street Hospital, and in more recent years in independent practice.  I have a particular expertise in working with the eating disorders and am proud to be co-author of a specialist CBT treatment manual written with colleagues during my time working at the South West London and St Georges Trust National Eating Disorder service in London. As an expat child myself, my love of travel along with  itchy feet in 2009 resulted in my family pursuing an overseas adventure. Returning to live as an adult and work  overseas cemented my insight and experience working across cultures and gave me a rich understanding of families who are displaced from their countries of origin.

As well as working directly with clients in all areas of adult and adolescent mental health,  I have lots of experience in teaching, supervising and the training of others. This includes running workshops in schools and other organisations and presenting at local, national and International  conferences. In all areas of my professional life  I  draw from a substantial history of clinical experience together with knowledge and training in a number of  theoretical models to collaborate with those I work with on interventions and treatment. I have never lost sight of what a privilege it is to share a part in peoples lives.
