Dr Stavros Orfanos

About Me
Dr Stavros Orfanos (PhD, DClinPsy) is a qualified Clinical Psychologist and is registered with the HCPC. He completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University College London (UCL). Stavros specialises in a range of mood and anxiety disorders and works with both adults and children. He currently works part-time in the NHS in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, where he delivers psychological therapies with children and adults alongside a multi-disciplinary team. He also works part-time outside the NHS offering psychological support to employees within a large financial institution.
Stavros uses a range of clinical modalities and has a particular interest in CBT and third-wave CBT approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion-Focused Therapy. He also enjoys Narrative Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy approaches.
Prior to his clinical training he completed an undergraduate degree in Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford and a PhD at Queen Mary University of London. Stavros has a keen interest in teaching and has delivered lectures at Queen Mary University of London (on both undergraduate and post-graduate courses) and on the Clinical Psychology Doctorate course at UCL. Stavros has published a number of peer-reviewed journal articles addressing a variety of topics, including group therapy, adult mental health and child mental health.
